Key Duties & Responsibilities Pre-Contract / Tender Stage Prepare feasibility studies and preliminary cost estimates . Analyze project drawings, specifications, and related documents for tendering. Prepare and issue Bills of Quantities (BOQ) , Schedules of Rates , and tender documentation . Conduct cost planning , value engineering , and budget forecasting . Evaluate tenders and assist with bid adjudications . Post-Contract / Construction Stage Conduct measurement and valuation of works completed on site. Prepare interim payment certificates and final accounts . Manage and monitor project budgets , cash flow , and cost reports . Evaluate and manage variation orders , claims , and contractual issues . Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure financial control. Provide cost advice throughout the project lifecycle. General / Administrative Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation. Prepare and present progress and cost reports to stakeholders. Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and quality standards. Participate in site meetings and project handover processes. Key Skills & Competencies Strong numerical and analytical ability. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy . Good communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Sound commercial awareness and problem-solving ability. Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Excel . Qualifications Bachelors Degree or National Diploma in Quantity Surveying , Construction Management , or Civil Engineering . Registration with SACQSP (South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession) as a Candidate or Professional Quantity Surveyor (advantageous). Knowledge of construction contracts (e.g. JBCC, FIDIC, NEC). Proficiency in MS Office , CostX , WinQS , or similar estimating software. Valid drivers licence and own transport (advantageous for site visits). Experience 25 years of experience in a quantity surveying or cost management role (depending on level junior, intermediate, or senior). Experience across residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects . Proven track record in tendering , estimating , and cost control . Strong exposure to contract administration , project budgeting , and procurement .
