Job Description
Purpose of the job:
To manage and lead the commercial aspects of the department to achieve goals and targets outlined in the sales budget and to take responsibility for the overall management cycle with a key focus on inventory management and pricing within agreed deadlines, compliance and risk frameworks.
To investigate, formulate and develop new commercial business concepts with proven financial feasibility, to implement plans for growth and sustainability of the overall business in alignment with agreed targeted strategies.
Experiential and Educational requirements:
- Matric
- Minimum NQF Level 7 (e.g. BCom /BSc / BTech degree or Advanced Diploma in Engineering, Chemicals, Waste Management, Environmental Sciences or Materials Technology).
- 7 years management / account executive experience in the Metals / Recycling / Waste or related sector with proven track record of financial analysis, budgeting and reporting.
- Business automation (digital transformation) exposure & SAP proficiency is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of different metals / commodities / synthetics across different industries and their applications (automotive or related industry experience is preferred but not essential).
- Sound knowledge of sales operations, new business development (prospecting, due diligence and feasibility studies) and negotiations & management of technical key accounts.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Set up and achievement of budget by;
- Actively monitoring related industries & commodity trends to compile, coordinate and present a successful annual and mid-term budget process (incl. income statement, cashflow forecasting, working capital and return on capital employed calculations)
- Managing monthly purchases & sales, as well as coordination with operations for value-add processing, and inventory management by ensuring tight daily controls against targeted levels.
- Selling and buying price negotiation to ensure best return as well as accurate pricing controls and contractual with planned reviews.
Accurate, timely financial analysis and reporting:
Manage short and medium business planning, including accurate, timely weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. Prepare sales and Gross Profit analyses and scheduled finance reports on-time and in-full.
Sales and Procurement management:
Review monthly sale plan with optimal coordination between all internal & external constituents. Actively seek opportunities for improvement, cost down, maximise opportunities with beneficial consideration of purchasing and sales customers.
Risk and compliance management:
Manage & control the sales and procurement business processes to ensure safe collection and compliance with all necessary regulations in terms of company standards and related statutory frameworks.
Identify New Business Opportunities against the targeted plans:
Research & analysis capabilities, project management and ability to lead, manage & delegate in matrix structure with track record of successful project implementation. Lead project from inception through to full implementation. Strong emphasis on commercial viability and financial feasibility.
Take full responsibility for performance management and development of all direct reports.
