They are currently seeking a Compliance Monitoring Manager to take ownership of compliance oversight across the insurer’s Short-Term and Long-Term Insurance licenses. This includes monitoring internal practices as well as contracted Intermediaries and Binder Holders.
The role focuses on ensuring the business operates within South African regulatory requirements and that all processes reflect fair customer outcomes. You will play a key part in developing and delivering the annual compliance monitoring plan, using industry-standard compliance tools, and providing clear reporting directly to Chief Legal and Compliance Office.

Duties:
Key Duties include:
- Conduct risk-based compliance monitoring and ensure adherence to all applicable South African regulations.
- Oversee compliance of external service providers, including Binder Holders and Intermediaries.
- Develop and maintain Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs) to support effective governance.
- Prepare compliance reports, track findings, and engage with regulators where required.
- Manage and utilise the Exclaim Risk and Compliance Software to monitor compliance activities.
- Drive compliance training, awareness, and the application of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, demonstrating strong self-management and contributing to a culture of integrity and accountability.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- LLB degree, with RE1 and RE5 certifications.
- Compliance certification such as CPrac (SA) or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Key Individual under FAIS is advantageous
- At least 5-7 years’ experience in compliance monitoring within the insurance or broader financial services sector
- Demonstrated oversight experience of Intermediaries, Binder Holders, or other outsourced providers.
- Hands-on experience using Exclaim or similar compliance monitoring platform
Experience:.
- Skilled in navigating regulatory compliance across insurance legislation, including the Insurance Act, FAIS, FICA, POPIA, PPR, TCF, Prudential Standards, and Joint Standards.
- Well-versed in developing and applying risk-based compliance monitoring frameworks and methodologies.
- Solid expertise in the intersection of compliance, risk management, and governance.
- Proficient in Exclaim compliance software, with advanced ability in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of both Life and Non-Life Insurance operations, with solid awareness of organisational risk strategies and governance frameworks.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong background in regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and monitoring within the insurance/financial services space.
- Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders through clear communication and collaboration.
- Skilled in project management, coordination, and analytical problem-solving.
- Hands-on experience with Exclaim Risk and Compliance Software and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong report writing skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-driven, with the ability to work independently and objectively.
- High ethical standards, professionalism, and a commitment to confidentiality and discretion.
- A collaborative mindset with adaptability, accountability, and a passion for continuous learning.
