About the Role
Gijima Holdings is seeking a skilled Data Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, gathering, scoping, mapping, and analyzing statistical and visual/spatial data to respond effectively to our operational and analytical data requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with business teams to understand project requirements and operational data needs.
- Identify and develop new information sources by establishing relationships with potential data providers.
- Design and maintain custom management tools to support efficient and accurate information gathering.
- Perform database programming for new and existing projects, including writing scripts, stored procedures, and functions.
- Assist with planning and implementing data integration and data migration activities.
- Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and reliability.
- Resolve database issues, queries, and error reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Design analytical models to detect anomalies and trends in data.
- Apply diagnostic and analytical skills to identify relationships and causal links within datasets.
- Prepare analytical reports containing findings, insights, and conclusions to support planning and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and complete database and analytical documentation.
- Contribute to the development of document templates that support data validation, auditability, and compliance.
- Search, mine, and analyse large datasets to extract relevant information for operational and investigative purposes.
- Prepare and deliver briefings and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- A degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Information Systems/Analysis, Finance, or a related field.
- SAS and/or SQL Server certification.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analysis, data mining, modelling, or coding.
- Strong quantitative skills with formal training in statistics, data mining, and model development.
- Experience in financial and transactional data analysis.
- Knowledge of financial flows and illicit financial activity is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.) are not required for this role.
