About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Trading Places Recruitment (Pty) Ltd. With a strong background in steel fabrication, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for steel fabrication and manufacturing projects. Your technical knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes, combined with your ability to read and understand advanced drawings, makes you the ideal candidate for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for steel fabrication and manufacturing projects
- Interpret and analyse advanced engineering and mechanical drawings
- Assess material, labour, machining, fabrication, and finishing costs
- Determine feasible manufacturing methods for components based on design specifications
- Liaise with engineering, production, and procurement teams to validate costs and processes
- Compile quotations, tenders, and supporting technical documentation
- Review and update estimates based on design or scope changes
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Estimator in the steel industry
- Strong ability to read and understand advanced drawings
- Proven technical knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes
- Solid understanding of how steel components are produced, machined, and assembled
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills

- Background in steel fabrication, heavy engineering, or manufacturing environments
