About the Role
Phakisa Holdings is seeking a reliable and experienced Security Guard to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of our premises, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain lawful possession and safe control of assigned firearm while on duty
- Preserve evidence and maintain chain of custody for incidents
- Monitor access point, check credential, search bags/vehicle when authorized
- Conduct static post duties and/or patrol assigned areas on foot, vehicle
- Observe and report suspicious activity and complete incident/incident reports
- Respond quickly and appropriately to alarms, disturbances, medical emergencies, fire or security breaches
- Use de-escalation and non-lethal force techniques as primary response, employ firearm only according to policy and law
- Maintain radio/communication log and coordinate with supervisor, police and emergency services
- Preserve evidence and maintain chain of custody for incidents when required
- Perform routine equipment checks and firearms safety checks/cleaning
Requirements
- Must have PSiRA certificate
- Have a valid drivers license (if role includes vehicle patrol)
- Maintain current firearms qualification
- Hold a valid armed security guard license/permit
- Clean criminal record (no disqualifying convictions) Successful background and suitable checks
- Must have Matric/Grade 12
