About the Role
HandPicked Recruitment is seeking a skilled Toll and Helpdesk Technician to join our team in Gauteng. As a critical member of our IT support team, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our toll systems, providing exceptional customer support, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain PCI compliance across toll systems
- Provide 2nd-level support for Linux and Oracle systems
- Monitor system performance daily, weekly, and monthly
- Troubleshoot Linux-based systems and perform recovery where needed
- Troubleshoot and replace faulty networking equipment
- Maintain communication infrastructure across remote sites
- Work closely with TCH Technicians to resolve plaza and lane issues
- Load and collect raw data from remote sites (when required)
- Log, track, and resolve IT issues via the Helpdesk
- Liaise with overseas suppliers and network support contractors
- Perform preventative maintenance on systems
- Maintain and control data centre operations
- Ensure uptime of servers and workstations
- Document problems and solutions for future reference
- Maintain and manage toll system hardware and software inventory
- Submit monthly reports
- Support end users onsite and remotely
- Work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
Requirements
- Matric
- Own reliable vehicle + Valid Driver’s Licence
- Diploma in Information Technology / IT Management (advantageous)
- Oracle background / experience
- Database experience
- Linux experience (RedHat, Debian or similar)
- Networking experience
- A+ and N+ qualification or equivalent experience
- MS Word & Excel proficiency
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Experience with SAN/server hardware (advantageous)
- SQL knowledge or qualification (advantageous)
- Previous toll system experience (advantageous)
Qualifications
- Diploma in Information Technology / IT Management
