About the Role

Bushwise, a leading organization in the travel and conservation industries, is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Photography & Travel Assistant to support our Hoedspruit-based team during a high-volume, fast-paced annual photography competition period. This role offers hands-on exposure to the travel, conservation, and digital media space within a collaborative bushveld office environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and manage submitted photographs
  • Communicate with competition entrants
  • Assist with ongoing organisation and maintenance of the photo archive
  • Support image sourcing requirements
  • Provide general office and administrative support
  • Assist with weekly content performance reviews and campaign ideation
  • Support the creation of marketing and promotional material
  • Monitor generic email inboxes and related communications
  • Assist with article syndication to media partners
  • Support media and travel teams with ad hoc tasks

Requirements

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of the social media landscape
  • Proficiency in Photoshop or Lightroom, Google Workspace, Canva, and social media scheduling tools
  • Interest in media, travel, conservation, photography, and video production/editing
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in responsible travel
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn travel software systems such as Tourplan, Wetu, or ResRequest (advantageous)
  • Self-motivated team player with a passion for African content and storytelling
