Our client, a well-established and thriving blueberry farm in Wolseley, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resource Officer to join their team. Nestled in the heart of the Western Cape’s agricultural hub, our farm is committed to sustainable farming practices, high-quality produce, and a supportive work environment. Job Summary: We are looking for a proactive and strategic Human Resources Officer to oversee all human resources functions for our blueberry farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR management within the agricultural sector or similar industries, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, training, compliance, and performance management. You will play a key role in building a motivated workforce, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting the farm’s operational goals. Key Responsibilities: Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employment contracts, inductions, and related processes for payroll workers. Manage all HR administration, including statutory compliance and record-keeping for permanent and seasonal staff. Administer payroll processes and coordinate data using systems like VIP and TMS. Facilitate training programmes and coordinate audits, including SIZA and other industry standards. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Address social and community-related issues, fostering a positive workplace culture. Collaborate with management to support workforce planning and employee relations. Key Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in agriculture, farming, or a related industry. Strong knowledge of South African labour laws and regulations. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Proven ability to manage and motivate teams in a fast-paced, seasonal environment. Proficiency in HR software, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and payroll systems. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, to meet farm operational needs. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the region as needed. Fluency in English and Afrikaans (additional languages like Xhosa are advantageous). Desirable Skills: Experience in managing seasonal workforces or agricultural labour. Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and worker safety in agricultural settings.
