About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantitative Analyst to join our team in Johannesburg, where you will contribute to a culture of innovation and analytical excellence. As a key member of our Credit Analytics, Risk, Finance, and Strategy teams, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive business growth and improve risk-adjusted returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain advanced analytics frameworks for credit portfolio management
- Provide advisory input on origination modelling strategies aligned to portfolio targets and risk appetite
- Enhance traditional modelling approaches and develop machine-learning-based predictive and prescriptive solutions across the credit lifecycle
- Lead portfolio tilt strategies, performance monitoring, and optimisation initiatives
- Strengthen risk-return analytics, including RWA and Economic Capital optimisation
- Support scenario analysis, stress-testing, and advanced attribution modelling
- Provide insights on pricing strategies to improve risk-adjusted returns
- Conduct deep-dive portfolio analyses to identify emerging risks and strategic opportunities
- Build interactive dashboards and visualisations for real-time monitoring and reporting
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience in credit risk analytics, portfolio management, or related areas
- Strong proficiency in SAS, Python, R, SQL
- Experience with IFRS9, Basel frameworks, and advanced credit modelling techniques
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement capability
- Ability to influence strategy while remaining hands-on with model development and analytics
Qualifications
Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Economics, or similar quantitative field. Postgraduate qualification or certifications (e.g., Data Science, Machine Learning, FRM, CFA) advantageous.
