About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to join our team in Johannesburg. As a senior leadership position, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple operational teams to deliver high-impact custom software projects. This is a strategic role that requires full-cycle project management, strong customer focus, and the ability to build relationships and foster a collaborative team culture.

Key Responsibilities

Track tasks, milestones, deliverables, and timelines to ensure projects stay within budget and scope.
Manage dependencies, resources, and risks effectively.
Own end-to-end delivery of custom software projects.
Form and stabilise delivery teams through onboarding, off boarding, and rotations.
Provide mentorship, coaching, and career development planning.
Conduct performance reviews and one-on-one meetings.
Act as the primary point of contact for customer accounts.
Deliver status reports and manage financials.
Strengthen customer partnerships through proactive engagement and mentorship.

Requirements

Previous consulting experience.
Experience working on custom software solutions.
Full-cycle project management, including planning, execution, and delivery.
Experience leading five or more operational teams.
Strong customer engagement and relationship management.
Ability to perform real-time business analysis and problem-solving with rapid context-switching.
Familiarity with custom software delivery processes.
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Strategic thinking and proactive problem-solving.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
Relevant certifications (e.g. Scrum Master certification).
