Johannesburg West: Mechanical/Mechatronic engineer mining systems posted by Network Finance

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineer to support the design, optimization, and maintenance of mining systems and equipment. This role involves working with heavy machinery, material-handling systems, and automated mining technologies to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety across operations.
? Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify mechanical and mechatronic components for mining systems (e.g., conveyors, crushers, screening equipment, mobile machinery).
• Support installation, commissioning, and performance testing of new equipment and system upgrades.
• Conduct engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and failure analysis.
• Develop technical drawings, specifications, BOMs, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with electrical, automation, and production teams on integrated mining solutions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and mechatronic issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, mining regulations, and engineering best practices.
• Participate in continuous improvement, reliability engineering, and plant optimization initiatives.
• Provide technical support to site teams, contractors, and project managers.

? Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in mining systems, heavy industrial machinery, or material-handling equipment preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD) and basic simulation tools.
• Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, and mechanical drives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on-site in demanding industrial or mining environments.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
