About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Packhouse Manager to join our team at Farm Manager SA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our packhouse, ensuring targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of quality and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the packhouse, ensuring targets are achieved
- Manage and motivate employees across the packing, quality control, and dispatch functions
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards at all times.
- Manage production schedules and coordinate workflow to optimise efficiency
- Manage inventory levels and reduce waste while maintaining product freshness
- Implement and maintain systems for tracking output, labour, and performance metrics
- Work closely with logistics, procurement, and production teams to ensure on-time delivery
- Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement in productivity and processes.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Operations Management, Production or Agriculture (advantageous)
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a packhouse / production / operations role (strawberries).
- Proven experience managing teams
- Strong understanding of food safety, cold chain management, and HACCP principles
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Computer literate (Excel and Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license
Qualifications
- Minimum tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
