Job Description

SCOPE OF WORK To compile product costings by calculating individual cost items such as labour, raw material and overhead expenditure using existing processes and systems. To examine records such as time and production sheets, payroll, operations schedules to obtain data for calculations; to accurately prepare reports showing total cost, selling prices and rates of return to management. To assist management in determining: whether or not a product should be discontinued; to identify areas for expansion; where necessary for setting of prices for certain customer categories; to monitor the materials, labour and other costs attributed to a product and compare them to the initial budgets and estimates. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE – COSTING 1. To accurate establish all input costs for costing purposes based on the Company’s processes and systems. 2. Work closely with Product Development, Finance and Marketing in determining whether or not a product fits into a particular category and contributes towards profitability. 3. Work closely with the Production Department to ensure that labour costs for each product are accurately determined; to establish accurate routing/sequences of operations for each product; to apply accurate standard minute values to each product, either by application of synthetic values or as a result of work study methodology. 4. Work closely with the Procurement Department to ensure raw material costs and units of measurement are accurately determined. 5. To utilised all input costs in determining final product cost and selling price. 6. To accurately process final product selling prices onto the company IT system. 7. To assist Sales and Marketing to create a product catalogue for the new and existing styles. 8. To produce efficiency reports that measure individual/group/departmental performances on a daily/weekly basis. 9. To generate quotations to customers. 10. To monitor the materials, labour and other costs attributed to a product and compare them to the initial budgets and estimates. 11. Providing costing for non-conforming materials and poor workmanship. 12. Calculate costs for outwork sent to CMT Factories. 13. To participate in stock counts and to value all stock on a monthly basis. 14. To assist with keeping costs down and revenues up. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES: • Qualification in an industry-related field and/or a relevant degree/ diploma. • At least 3 years’ experience in a related role • Good computer and math skills and knowledge of basic bookkeeping are general prerequisites. • Proficiency with spreadsheets and the ability to work on many projects with different deadlines. • Must be pressure resilient. • Accuracy and detail-oriented and ability to multi-task • Assertive but people oriented with good communication and problem solving skills.
