Key Responsibilities
As the Tax Manager, you will:
- Supervise and guide tax department employees, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of all outputs.
- Oversee the completion of Income Tax and Provisional Tax returns, ensuring compliance and adherence to deadlines.
- Manage and review complex tax returns, IT14SDs, and related tax documentation.
- Handle SARS-related communications, including assessments, disputes, and account reconciliations.
- Lead the tax dispute resolution process, including objections, appeals, and engagement with the Tax Ombud.
- Advise and consult on various tax-related matters for clients and directors.
- Drive training and professional development within the tax team.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including the Income Tax Act, Tax Administration Act, and VAT Act.
- Oversee GreatSoft and SARS eFiling processes, ensuring efficient workflow and data integrity.
- Contribute to the firm’s System of Quality Management (SOQM), policies, and ethical standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Accounting as a subject.
- A relevant Tax or Accounting qualification.
- Registration with SAIT (South African Institute of Taxation).
- Proven experience in a tax management or supervisory role.
- Strong working knowledge of SARS processes, tax laws, and dispute resolution procedures.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication, client service, and leadership skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex tax legislation.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, GreatSoft, SARS eFiling, and LexisNexis.
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to perform under pressure.
