About the Role
Network Finance is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join our team in Pretoria East. As a key member of our technical operations team, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day technical operations, service delivery, and escalations. You will also manage and mentor the technical team, driving performance and skills development. If you have a passion for Linux, Unix, and systems engineering, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day technical operations, service delivery, and escalations
- Manage and mentor the technical team, driving performance and skills development
- Define and enforce technical standards, SOPs, and best-practice architectures
- Oversee infrastructure, cloud, security, patching, monitoring, and backups
- Plan and deliver client projects, upgrades, and cloud transitions
- Ensure SLA adherence, governance, and continuous service improvement
- Support pre-sales, vendor management, and client technical advisory
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of web components such as Apache and Tomcat.
- Experience with high-availability and clustering technologies (advantageous).
- Solid understanding of storage technologies, including SAN, multipathing, iSCSI, and LVM.
- Good knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
- Experience with directory and authentication services, including LDAP, Kerberos, Samba, and Active Directory.
- Exposure to container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (advantageous).
- Working knowledge of load-balancing technologies (advantageous).
- Cloud certifications (Azure and/or AWS) are an advantage.
- VMware vRealize Operations certification is an advantage.
- Advanced Perl scripting skills.
- Advanced VMware virtualisation experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Veeam backup and recovery solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
