About the Role
Network Finance is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer with expertise in UNIX and Solaris systems to join our team. As a critical component of our infrastructure, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and availability of our systems, as well as providing technical support to our users. If you have hands-on experience in system engineering, a passion for troubleshooting, and excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain UNIX and Solaris operating systems, ensuring stability and availability.
- Apply regular system updates and patches to maintain security and compliance.
- Monitor system performance and proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Administer and configure Connect:Direct (NDM) for secure and reliable file transfer operations.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for scheduled and on-demand file transfers.
- Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions in line with access control policies.
- Monitor access logs and ensure adherence to security and compliance standards.
- Develop, maintain, and execute backup and recovery strategies for critical systems and data.
- Perform regular recovery testing to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Analyse system performance metrics and recommend improvements.
- Tune system configurations to improve throughput and reduce latency.
- Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Produce regular reports on system performance, file transfers, and security events.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and system integrations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users on system-related issues.
- Support security best practices and controls across all managed environments.
Requirements
- 5 – 10 years of hands-on experience in system engineering, specifically with UNIX and Solaris environments
- Proficiency in UNIX and Solaris systems administration
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and security protocols
- Scripting skills (Shell, Perl) for automation tasks
- Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Certification in UNIX or Solaris administration (e.g. Oracle Certified Professional)
