Retail Operations Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Build and maintain strong relationships with regional retailers, store staff, and internal corporate teams Ensure retail stores meet corporate identity guidelines and adhere to minimum format standards Promote high operational standards and excellence across all store locations Support retailers with strategies to grow their businesses and improve profitability Analyze business performance and offer practical, data-driven recommendations Interpret financial reports to inform growth plans and guide store owners Develop tailored business growth plans for individual stores Conduct regular store visits and audits, with structured reporting to relevant stakeholders Provide insights on evolving retail trends and competitor activity within the hardware and building materials sector Foster collaboration and alignment between retailers and the corporate team REQUIREMENTS: Tertiary qualification, ideally in Business or Financial Management At least 5 years of experience in a senior retail or home improvement management role Strong business acumen with the ability to engage and influence entrepreneurs within a structured business environment Solid understanding of the building materials and hardware retail space, and the challenges of small to medium-sized businesses Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial performance and guide profitability initiatives Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel and intermediate PowerPoint skills Self-starter with leadership ability, attention to detail, and a results-driven mindset Sound knowledge of hardware and building materials products Valid drivers license, South African passport, and a willingness to travel extensively
