Job Description
Role Overview:
As the Fire Supervisor / Commissioner, you will lead and manage fire protection operations across multiple sites, ensuring full compliance with national and international fire safety standards. You will oversee teams of technicians, manage complex installations and commissioning of fire systems, and serve as the primary authority on fire risk assessments and regulatory compliance. This role demands strategic oversight, technical expertise, and strong leadership to drive operational excellence and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise fire protection teams, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Oversee the commissioning of fire protection systems including sprinklers, alarms, suppression systems, pumps, and electrical motors.
- Conduct advanced fire risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for high-risk environments.
- Ensure compliance with SANS, NFPA, and other relevant fire safety codes and regulations.
- Manage stakeholder relationships including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and implement fire safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement of specialized equipment.
- Prepare executive-level reports on project progress, risk management, and compliance.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and regulatory changes in fire protection.
Requirements:
- Minimum 57 years of experience in fire protection, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or commissioning role.
- N6 or equivalent qualification in Plumbing, Electrical, or Fire Engineering.
- Proven experience in commissioning fire protection systems and managing large-scale projects.
- In-depth knowledge of fire codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel nationally.
