About the Role
Our global engineering client in Sandton, Johannesburg is seeking a Legal and Risk Officer with 5 years of experience to join their team. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for managing legal affairs and mitigating potential risks, providing a unique blend of legal advisory, compliance, and risk management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to the organization on a wide range of issues, including contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure the organization’s interests are protected.
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations affecting the organization and ensure compliance.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize risks to the organization, including operational, financial, and reputational risks.
- Ensure the organization complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation involving the organization.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and legal counsel, to address legal and risk-related matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) qualification.
- Admission as an attorney or advocate in South Africa is essential.
- Experience in legal practice, risk management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of South African laws and regulations.
