About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Foreman to join our team in a diamond mining operation in South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy industrial maintenance, with experience in supervisory and foreman roles. This role requires excellent leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and implement preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment (crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, separators) to minimize downtime.
- Direct and supervise artisans and technicians on daily tasks, ensuring repairs and installations are done correctly and efficiently.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety (OHS Act, Mine Health and Safety Act), health, environmental, and security regulations.
- Lead teams to respond to, diagnose, and repair equipment failures immediately, particularly during plant shutdowns.
- Manage maintenance budgets, inventory of critical spares, and procurement of materials to ensure cost-effective operations.
Requirements
- Recognized Trade Test Certificate (Diesel Mechanic, Fitter, Millwright, or Electrician) is essential.
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in heavy industrial maintenance, with at least 35 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- In-depth knowledge of Dense Media Separation (DMS) plants, recovery, or crushing circuits in diamond mining is highly preferred.
Qualifications
- An N6 Diploma or Engineering Technology Diploma is often required.
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) for Mines/Works is highly advantageous.
