Western Cape: Fitter & Turner – 6 month Contract posted by Persona Staff

• Attend and resolve machine breakdowns promptly.
• Report progress and fault diagnoses to the Maintenance and Production teams.
• Record downtime duration and maintenance details on job cards.
• Track and maintain service histories for Induction Ovens and Temper Furnaces.
• Liaise with Induction Coil and Generator Specialists during breakdowns and commissioning.

Preventative Maintenance

• Standardise and maintain Induction Ovens and Temper Furnaces per production unit.
• Use breakdown and inspection data to recommend and implement improvements.
• Investigate and report any unplanned stoppages or limitations during maintenance.
• Perform weekly and monthly services on all related equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and checklists.
• Monitor and report on machine components, ensuring timely repairs or replacements.

Projects

• Provide feedback to the Design Department on performance and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are available and in working order.
• Report any deviations from as-built drawings or designs.
• Liaise with the Projects Engineer during commissioning of new equipment.
• Support innovation and testing with R&D, Design, and external contractors.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
• Section 13 Trade Test Certificate – Fitter and Turner (essential).
• 3–5 years’ post-trade experience.
• Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment (advantageous).
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and in a team under pressure.
