Westville: Junior Contamination Scientist

Key responsibilities Fieldwork: Collect and analyse samples of soil, water, and air to identify and assess pollution sources. This can include working outdoors in various weather conditions and collecting samples with high-precision equipment. Data analysis: Analyse and interpret laboratory results to evaluate environmental conditions and contamination levels. Reporting: Assist in preparing technical reports and presentations to document findings, ensure compliance, and present information to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders. Research: Conduct investigations to identify sources of pollutants and hazards. Collaboration: Work with clients, laboratories, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure project compliance and success. Technical assistance: Use computer software for environmental problem-solving and help coordinate with other disciplines on projects. Emergency response: Participate in on-call rotations to conduct emergency sampling and site work, often requiring travel with little notice. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or a related field is typically required. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in technical report writing. Familiarity with water quality monitoring techniques and laboratory procedures is often needed.
