The largest specialised fresh produce cold storage operator in the country, which is part of a larger and integrated group, is looking to employ and fruit accountant to their offices in the Winelands.

The ideal candidate must have an accounting qualification and at least 5 years experience in finance. Post articles experience in a commerce related would be a definite benefit. Completed SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA articles will be a distinct advantage and knowledge of ERP systems (Navision, Business Central, or similar) will be a positive. Industry experience in agriculture, farming, citrus, fruit, export, or related will also be an advantage, though not a pre-requisite. Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.

Duties and

• Accounting and capture of monthly nominal ledger and trial balance preparation.
• Compile monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset register.
• Depreciation calculation and journal entries.
• Authorisation of banking payments (shared responsibility).
• Load all bank payments.
• Monthly debit order check.
• Calculate, complete and submit VAT return.
• Reconcile inventory control by comparing to the inventory accounts.
• Capture all the inventories in the system.
• Develop inventory journal entry to document inventory transactions.
• Ensure to check inventory sheet of goods received & stock issue notes.
• Responsible for matching invoices to statements.
• Reviewing of incoming post.
• Matching purchasing orders to supplier invoices received.
• Review payments to suppliers/creditors and loaded batches for payments.
• Reviewing of creditor recons performed every month.
• Evaluate rates and taxes.
• Expense claim reconciliation and payment.
• Reviewing of weekly producer statement.
• Ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or similar.
• Completed SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA articles preferred.
• PA(SA), CA(SA), AGA(SA) or CIMA designation highly advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years experience.
• MS Excel skills essential.
• Agriculture of Citrus experience beneficial.

Remuneration:

• R540,000 to R660,000 per annum, negotiable on experience and qualifications.
