Job Summary
Employer Description A well-established legal practice situated along the Garden Route in the Western Cape, specializing in a wide range of legal services. Job Description Our client is looking for an experienced, detail orientated, professional and highly organized Associate Attorney to join their team as soon as possible. You will be responsible for: Conducting interviews and consultations in respect of new estates and trusts Interpreting wills, trust deeds and financial statements Independently attending to the administration of an estate (deceased as well as curatorship) from start to finish Drafting of Liquidation and Distribution and Curators Accounts Independently attending to the registration, administration and maintenance, amendment and deregistration of a trust ( inter vivos as well as testamentary) Arranging trustee meetings, drafting resolutions and preparing minute extracts Attending to, managing and solving Masters queries Reporting and managing the submission of tax returns to SARS Drafting of cash distribution statements and reconciliation statements Building and maintaining relationships with clients, beneficiaries, heirs, key persons and 3 rd parties through frequent and clear communication Following processes and working according to set quality standards. Qualifications LLB degree Certificate in Estate and/or Trust Administration (beneficial, not compulsory); FISA accreditation (beneficial, not compulsory) Skills The successful candidate must have: Minimum 5 9 years sound recent experience in estate and trust administration and dealing with the Master of the High Court Strong computer literacy and working knowledge of software such as Legal Suite, Legal Ease, Standard Bank TPFA and Nedbank Corporate Saver Working knowledge and understanding of legislation including The Trust Property Control Act, The Administration of Estates Act, The Intestate Succession Act, The Wills Act, The Mental Health Care Act, The Estate Duty Act and The Income Tax Act Excellent written and communication skills Personal Attributes: Committed to and passionate about service excellence Consistently achieve and exceed goals by being proactive and always “going the extra mile” Excellent problem resolution skills Honest to a fault and of the highest integrity Autonomous and independent but willing and able to serve as a member of a team as well as take and follow instructions Confident and able to establish and maintain the confidence of others Detail orientated, professional and highly organized Consistently produce work of the highest quality, even when under high-pressure
