Our client requires a health and safety officer for a projecy in Cape Town , the Construction Safety Officer ensures compliance with health and safety regulations on construction sites. Responsibilities include implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, promoting a safe working environment, and maintaining effective record-keeping. Key Responsibilities : Compliance & Safety Implementation Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act, Client Health and Safety Specifications, and legal requirements. Implement SHE policies, conduct risk assessments, and enforce safety measures. Risk Management & Accident Investigations Conduct safety inspections, audits, and investigate accidents. Maintain records and implement corrective actions. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting Engage with stakeholders on safety policies and maintain accurate safety records. Prepare reports on safety performance, including audits and statistics. Human Resources & Training Manage conflict resolution, oversee training, and mentor Junior Safety Officers. Ensure staff adherence to SHE standards and safety awareness. Qualifications & Experience : National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety. SAMTRAC / NEBOSH certification (advantageous). First Aid and Fire Fighting certification (advantageous). SACPCMP registration required. 3-5 years of health and safety experience in construction. Knowledge of local health & safety regulations for construction. Skills & Competencies : Strong understanding of health and safety laws in construction. Excellent communication, report-writing, and training skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Preferred Attributes : Proactive, hands-on approach to safety. Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills. Experience managing safety in multi-disciplinary construction teams.
