Employer Description Our client is a communications solutions company Job Description The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible to monitor workplace activities to ensure that all staff, contractors, vendors, suppliers and partners comply with Health and Safety Standards, ISO standards (9001 and 45001) and the QMS system policies and regulations. Responsibilities will include: Manage, maintain and improve the company Health & Safety Management System (Fieldwork 24) in line with audited requirements and the ISO standards. Lead the drive for continual improvement of these standards throughout the company irrespective of the region. Participate in and support Internal teams in proposal preparation, contract Implementation, ensuring effective control of Health and Safety System documentation, producing scheduled reports for Management, etc. Provide H&S guidelines and input to questionnaires, pre-qualifications, tenders, and contracts. Serve as safety consultant on construction and space planning projects. Performing corrective action investigations, determining root causes and defining corrective/preventive action measures based on the ISO Standard. Manage and handle NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and CARs (Corrective Action Reports) through the use of companys internal tracking system. Conducting internal and external meetings. Act as lead auditor with strong emphasis on H&S regulation requirements. Train new and current employees. Liaising with Department of Labour regarding reportable incidents and accidents. Coordinate weekly safety talks in the workplace. Qualifications Grade 12 Relevant Degree/Diploma or equivalent in the H&S National Safety Diploma / NEBOSH will be an advantage Skills Min 5 years experience in enforcing the OSH Act within organisation Broad knowledge of legislation related to OHS Act, Regulation, Policies, Procedures on Health and Safety practical experience on implementing health and safety in the work place including contractor management Experience in audits and auditing processes Managing the respective area and employees on PPE, inspection, maintaining, issuing and handing back old or expired PPE Travel to other provinces (JHB and KZN) as and when required Benefits Medical Aid Pension Travel Allowance
