Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a Junior Sous Pastry Chef for a luxury wilderness reserve located in the Western Cape. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and creative pastry professional looking to grow their career within a world-class culinary team.
Key
Responsibilities:

Assist the Head Pastry Chef in daily preparation and service of all pastry and dessert items
-
Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene
-
Support with menu creation, development of new recipes, and seasonal adjustments
-
Manage and train junior pastry staff, ensuring consistent output and growth
-
Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and ensure cost-effective usage of ingredients
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry section at all times
-
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and internal standards
-
Collaborate with the broader kitchen team to ensure seamless service
Requirements:
-
A relevant culinary qualification or pastry diploma preferred
-
23 years experience in a similar role in a high-end hospitality environment
-
Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, chocolate work, and plated desserts
-
Creative flair and a genuine passion for baking and pastry arts
-
Excellent time management and organizational skills
-
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
-
Strong team player with a proactive attitude
-
Willingness to live and work in a remote wilderness setting
