Description/Synopsis: We are actively seeking a Project Engineer with a mechanical background and proven mining industry experience to join our clients’ dynamic projects department. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, and demonstrate outstanding communication skills. A strong understanding of heavy engineering, materials handling, CAD modelling, 2D drafting, and project scheduling is essential. This position plays a vital role in supporting their ongoing expansion and continuous growth within the African mining sector. Minimum Requirements: Proven working experience in a project environment. Background in the mining industry (run-of-mine crushing/sizing/screening) is highly desirable, with exposure to plant and equipment layouts. Mechanical Engineering qualification (degree). Project Management Professional certification (PMP®), preferred or working towards. Familiar with manufacturing methods, techniques and procedures. Knowledge and experience with computer-aided design software (SolidWorks® and AutoCAD® skills essential). Proficient with 2D CAD design and drafting with the ability to use industry-standard CAD systems for design and documentation. Computer literate (MS Office skills essential). Good reporting and writing skills are advantageous. Advanced knowledge of: SolidWorks 3D CAD SolidWorks File & Data Management. Background in structural engineering is preferred. Experience in design for manufacturability and assembly. Knowledge of standard design codes and specifications. Mechanical and technical skills and knowledge. Must be willing to travel. Main Responsibilities: Provide technical support to the business development department for tenders. Co-ordinate or assist with the co-ordination of all project execution activities to ensure client expectations are met, schedules maintained, and budgets adhered to. Source, appoint, and manage sub-contractors. Liaise regularly with customers, including leading project kick-off and progress meetings. Manage and plan design activities to ensure timely completion and co-ordination within the design team throughout all phases. Conduct project alignment meetings between the organization, its customers, and internal departments/engineering teams. Work with project planners and expeditors to understand timelines and ensure progress reports are accurate and meet required standards before release to clients. Collaborate with the design and drafting department to establish required deliverables; check designs and drawings for alignment with project and customer expectations. Ensure equipment designs comply with project requirements and client expectations. Assist in the compilation of RFQs and contract documents for sub-contractors. Review and approve project documents and drawings before client submission. Engage with directors and key decision-makers to communicate project status and assist in major decisions impacting project cost and timelines. Work closely with the quality department to ensure engineering requirements and quality management systems align for the project. Supervise, inspect, and commission site installations at mine sites throughout Africa and South Africa. Develop maintenance standards, schedules, and programs; provide guidance to industrial maintenance crews. Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems at mine sites across Africa and South Africa. Collaborate with all company departments as required. Effectively communicate project information to co-workers, customers, and suppliers in an objective and professional manner. Prepare, schedule, coordinate, monitor, and cost-control assigned engineering projects. Execute project-specific deliverables agreed upon with stakeholders. Monitor compliance with codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications. Liaise with clients to interpret their specifications, expectations, and requirements. Maintain product and company reputation by upholding organisational values and mission statement. Perform other relevant duties as required.
