Job Description
The Logistics Operations Specialist is responsible for coordinating the shipment of goods from Intercompany and suppliers to the Country’s Warehouse or distribution center. This involves arranging transportation, scheduling deliveries, tracking shipments, and working with 3PL, Forwarders, Implants, and other stakeholders to ensure on-time arrival and Ontime delivery.

- Full ownership and accountability to drive consistent achievement of OTIF (On Time in Full) & OTIFQ (On Time in Full Quality) targets within 3PL DCs and service Centre Operations
- Own and develop vendor relationships to consistently deliver on OTIF performance targets, lead continuous improvement activity to optimize the network and drive efficiencies to provide a best-in-class service to our customers.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that will improve service to our customers driving operational enhancements and cost saving initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including supply chain, procurement, commercial, quality, trade compliance and customer service teams, to ensure seamless operations and alignment of priorities.
- Take full responsibility for managing the budget within your area, diligently identifying, and addressing any potential risk areas while proactively highlighting opportunities for improvement.
High level responsibilities of Logistics Operations Specialist
- Review all the Open POs and exported shipments to organize the on-time supply to 3PL.
- Collecting the Data related to the Inbound and Outbound KPIs and maintaining the dashboards.
- Corrective and preventive actions and process improvements to improve the KPIs.
- Achieving the KPIs for Transportation and customer delivery
- Regular audit and review of import and export documents, High level Audit supports.
- Working closely with 3PL Logistics partners to ensure smooth Operations.
- Working with DCs, forwarders, and Transportation team to reduce the repeated issues, root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
- Claim recovery from both Internal and External stakeholders!
- Monitoring the 3PL billing and Monthly Cost, Working with 3PL for the cost reductions and Cost Avoidance.
- Ensures all the Healthcare licenses availability, renewals and monitoring other local regulatory requirements.
Candidate Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, KCI requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field with strong 3PL Operations Experience 8-10 years
- Proven experience in high volume organization in logistics, transportation, and distribution center management, preferably within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong customer focus with a deep understanding of customer needs and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. Must be able to anticipate customer requirements and proactively address issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP), Transport Management systems, Warehouse Management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid South Africa driving License.
