Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES OPERATIONS BUDGET Manage Operations in line with the annual budget. LOGISTICS Manage inbound and outbound logistics aligned with budget, SLAs, And slot times. Manage, plan, and control the daily logistics for all internal and related parties business. – The daily inbound truck and logistics plan will be finalised and communicated to the management team for all farm, market, and raw material planning. – Farm/Grower logistics are completed with the Commercial Division. – Outbound trucks and logistics are planned to align with slot times and budgeted transport rates. – Based on order volumes and the most effective truck utilisation and efficiencies, a daily outbound truck and logistics plan is to be completed and communicated to the management team. – Truck/logistics planning over weekends to be completed every Friday for distribution to the weekend manager(s) The customer and internal team agreed on daily slot times to be adhered to. Communicate the companys operations “rules” and procedures to customers/transporters regularly. Drivers and assistants should have a clear weekly plan and schedule, which is shared with management. Monthly reporting: Logistics (daily, weekly, monthly) RECEIVING Manage and control the accurate receiving of goods and products into the facility within the required time of arrival. STOCK MANAGEMENT Ensure efficient stock and material management, including the receiving, handling and dispatching of all raw materials, as outlined in the SOP”s. PALLET HANDLING & STORAGE ensure the pellet capture and storage handling process is followed. Pallet movement information is recorded in accordance with the SOP”s. Operational control and management of the cold and ambient storage areas. EQUIPMENT Ensure forklift charging and maintenance are conducted, including load testing and Refilling of diesel and battery water. Manage all equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation at all times. Forklifts, pallet jacks, generator, lifting bays, facility cooling. Ensure that generator servicing and maintenance are done as required and that diesel is permanently filled. Contact facility electricity and water readings and keep records of meters. DISPATCH manage and control the picking and dispatch of all goods leaving the facility at all times. Then sure all goods picked and dispatched are done according to the prescribed process. Responsible for ensuring loadouts and turn around times are adhered to. Ensure customer queries are resolved within 24 hours of delivery. AOD packs are dispatched to the company within 24 hours of delivery. FACILITY & SECURITY o Manage the yard and waste area, including but not limited to waste bins, recycling, pallets, farm crates, and containers. o Ensure the facility is secure and safe when closed between shifts. o Camera and security system upkeep and maintenance. STAFF o Build and manage a strong team of skilled operation staff. Ensure Ops staff are trained, equipped, and capable of performing the required job. o Ensure the number of Ops staff in each area of operations aligns with the business”s demands. o Oversee staff performance. o Manage leave and time schedules by HR procedures. o Ensure all Ops staff have the required PPE and conform to all customer requirements. GENERAL Effectively manage processes and procedures within the division. Be visible and manage the teams in the receiving, cold stores and dispatch areas. Effectively managing the flow of products through the facility to ensure efficient operations and control. Inspect the yard and waste areas daily, Checking for potential lost opportunities, cleanliness risks and/or food safety risks. Forklift inspection and equipment maintenance checks to avoid failures. Electric and manual pallet jacks: daily inspections and preventative maintenance. REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE Relevant tertiary qualification. Five years management experience in an operational or similar role. Solid understanding of total quality management systems and processes. People and process leadership. Solid business acumen. Strong Computer literacy.
