Johannesburg: Senior Java Developer

Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of scalable, high-availability backend systems Architect and implement RESTful APIs and microservices using modern Java technologies Drive technical decisions, mentor intermediate/junior developers, and elevate coding standards Collaborate closely with Product, DevOps, QA, and Architecture teams to deliver end-to-end solutions Perform code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and contribute to architectural roadmaps Troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems Contribute to system optimization, performance tuning, and long-term platform strategy Champion continuous improvement, automation, and modern engineering practices Job Experience and Key Requirements: 6 years of hands-on experience in Java (8/11/17) Strong expertise in Spring/Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and enterprise application development Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) Solid understanding of event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar) Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.) Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Strong grasp of design patterns, clean architecture, and software engineering best practices Experience with performance tuning, distributed systems, and secure coding practices Ability to lead discussions, influence architectural decisions, and guide technical delivery Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
