Learn to Earn invites suitability qualified candidates to apply for the vacancy of Life Skills and Discipleship Trainer based at our Hermanus Campus. The Life Skills and Discipleship trainer will report to the Branch Manager and is responsible for day-to-day training, course planning, preparation, delivery, administration and reporting regarding the LtE Life Skills and Discipleship Training programmes. Main Requirement • Hold to LtE’s statement of faith and be an active member of an evangelical church. • A relevant qualification in Social Work or Counselling Psychology, highly advantageous. • Acts with the highest integrity, honesty, professionalism and ethics in all matter of work and personal life. • Proven track record in education, social development and/or worked in diverse contexts. • Experience in the NPO PBO sector desirous. • Passionate about people and especially developing the unemployed and eradicating the legacies of injustice. • Must be high performance orientated, can work independently, have functional proficiency, and initiative. • Good computer and administrative skills required. • Ability to meet deadlines is essential as well as attention to detail and report writing skills. • Able to interact comfortably and effectively within an inter-cultural environment made up of different social, economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds and be team orientated. • Good communication skills in English (While knowledge of isiXhosa/Afrikaans would be beneficial). • Three independent contactable references, from previous reporting lines. Primary Responsibilities • Provide training in Life Skills to Learn to Earn students focusing on a holistic approach. • Guide and facilitate students through the Alpha Course Modules- Discipleship Programme. The programme will be adjusted in accordance with the length of each course. • Assessment and moderation of student work. • Updating the training material in consultation with counterparts on other campuses, Branch Managers and Chief Operating Officer on a regular basis. • Provide stories of interest and life changes related to our students to our media desk and fundraising team. • Identify and refer students in need of counselling, where required to external organisations providing professional counselling services. • Encourage prayer and sharing to start the healing process in people’s lives. • Arrange for guest speakers to present topics, i.e. Personal Finance, Consumer Rights, Health and Wellness Talks, Wellness Check-Ups, Alpha Holy Spirit Day, etc. • Take responsibility for organising campus church services and run the services. • Lead and organize the devotional aspects of the graduation services and guest speakers of interest and encouragement. • Promote and market the Skills Courses on offer at Learn to Earn. • Assist with employment referrals and opportunities, CV preparation and follow-up calls to graduates. • Facilitate Job Readiness interventions. Learn to Earn (LtE) is a registered Christian skills development organisation which seeks to develop people, especially unemployed people, socially, economically, emotionally, and spiritually. As such this is a team ministry, and the following will also be required in addition to the above: • Participate, contribute, and engage in weekly staff devotions and prayer meetings. • To participate in the employer’s Annual Staff Retreat. We go away together to do staff development and spiritual growth seminars. • To participate in the employer’s Annual General Meetings and other organisational functions (awareness and fundraisers) which may be held after hours, during the week or on a Saturday. • To be co-responsible for the continued development of the employer. • To promote the employer and obtain financial support thereof. • The employee will be expected to do things that fall outside of the ambit of their job description, such as sweeping, cleaning, covering for and helping other staff. This is a team ministry.
