Job Description
Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in SHERQ / HSE management in a high-risk environment (e.g. mining, manufacturing, explosives, petrochemical or similar).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior or management role with responsibility for SHERQ strategy, systems and teams.
- Proven experience in implementing and maintaining SHERQ management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in leading incident investigations, risk assessments and audit programmes.
- Experience engaging with regulatory authorities and managing compliance in complex operational environments.
- Experience in driving culture change and behavioural safety initiatives will be advantageous.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, Quality, Engineering or related field (e.g. BTech / BSc / National Diploma).
- Recognised SHERQ / HSE professional certifications or training (e.g. SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor, Risk Management) will be advantageous.
- Mining or explosives experience.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of SHERQ legislation, regulations and applicable standards.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and tools.
- Ability to implement, manage and audit SHERQ management systems (ISO 45001 / 14001 / 9001 or equivalent).
- Excellent incident investigation and root-cause analysis skills.
- Strong report writing, data analysis and SHERQ performance monitoring skills.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written).
- High level of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and conflict management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Willingness to travel to operational sites as required.
