Johannesburg: IT Cybersecurity Specialist

Key Responsibilities : Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis Monitor networks and systems for security breaches or suspicious activity Respond to security incidents and perform root-cause analysis Manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and security tools Lead security awareness programs and provide training to staff Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and industry standards Collaborate with IT teams on secure system design and architecture Job Experience and Key Requirements: 35 years of experience in IT security, cyber defence, or related fields Strong understanding of network security, cloud security, and endpoint protection Experience with SIEM tools, threat detection, and incident response Knowledge of frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, or similar Familiarity with firewall management, VPNs, antivirus, and encryption technologies Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) Relevant Certifications beneficial (e.g., CEH, CompTIA Security, CISSP, and CISM) Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Desirable Skills : Experience with malware analysis or threat hunting Knowledge of secure coding practices and DevSecOps Background in forensic investigations or SOC operations
