Sandton: Engineer – Electrical and Controls

Requirements: BEng/BSc/BTech in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Power Systems, or Control Systems. ECSA registration (or in progress). Specialisation in power systems, power electronics, or control systems advantageous. 25 years in power systems, grid integration, renewable energy, or control systems engineering. Exposure to prototypes, R&D environments, test rigs, or experimental technologies is highly advantageous. Strong understanding of grid-tied systems, synchronisation, protection, and grid-code compliance. Experience with inverters, converters, and power electronics controllers. Control systems knowledge: PID tuning, feedback/feedforward, safety interlocks, automation, state machines. PLC programming or embedded control logic (advantageous). Experience with SCADA/HMI systems and industrial instrumentation. Strong understanding of fault levels, protection relays, and MV/LV systems. Ability to interpret electrical schematics and system models. Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or similar tools is beneficial.
