About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software. You will work closely with production, procurement, and project teams to ensure successful implementation of designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
- Perform design calculations, simulations, and product testing
- Improve existing products for performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
- Work closely with production, procurement, and project teams to ensure successful implementation of designs
- Participate in prototype development, commissioning, and problem-solving activities
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
Requirements
- BSc Mechanical Engineering or BEng Mechanical Engineering (essential)
- 3 years experience in mechanical design engineering within manufacturing, heavy engineering, or industrial environments
- Strong proficiency in CAD design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar
- Sound understanding of materials, fabrication processes, stress analysis, and mechanical systems
