Key Requirements:

• BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying
• Registered as a Professional with the SACQSP
• Must be a South African citizen
• 10 years post-Pr QS registration experience
• Project management qualification or experience beneficial
• Analytical thinker with proven problem solving
• Ability to manage and prioritize complex tasks
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Competency in mathematical and accounting principles
• Reports, feasibility studies and cost analyses of processes
• Should be able to manage multiple projects at the same time
• Excellent construction- and general project management skills
• Be able and willing to mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors
• Sound knowledge of the JBCC and other relevant building contracts
• Sound knowledge of CIDB standards

• Doing estimates
• Measuring Quantities from plans to compile BOQs
• Preparing tender documentation
• Preparing valuations
• Preparing variation orders
• Attending site meetings
• Contract administration
• Preparing Cost Reports
• Measuring and agreeing final accounts
• Project Management
• Quality Assurance
• Multi-disciplinary services co-ordination
• Team co-ordination
• Oversee projects as needed
• Liaising with clients and other stake holders
• Public facilities building experience. Preferably experience with Government projects and the South African tender process

The client is seeking professional quantity surveyors to join their company and work on prestigious commercial projects.

Responsibilities:

• Create and submit precise cost estimates for commercial projects.

• Examine project specifications and devise cost-effective solutions.

• Collaborate within a team to meet client requirements effectively.

• Craft and oversee project budgets, adhering to financial protocols.

• Monitor and oversee project expenses during construction.

• Coordinate with project managers and engineering units to enforce cost control strategies.

• Perform thorough cost analysis and comparison to pinpoint potential savings.

• Deliver routine progress updates and financial projections to senior leadership.

• Engage in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors for favorable terms.

• Guarantee adherence to pertinent regulations and industry norms in all activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
• Must be registered with the ECSA as a Professional Quantity Surveyor
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in quantity surveying
• Proven track record of successfully managing costs for commercial projects
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in budgeting and cost control software like CCS Candy
• Proficient in the use of MS Office and MS Projects
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Capable of thriving in a high-speed work environment
• Professional certification or registration as a Quantity Surveyor is preferred
