Cape Town City Centre: AC Technician

We are seeking a motivated AC Technician to join the Facilities & Maintenance team, supporting the upkeep, repair, and basic installation of air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems across the property. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior technicians to ensure HVAC systems operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to guests and operations. Critical Criteria (Requirements) NQF Level 3 or equivalent in Refrigeration / Air Conditioning (or currently enrolled in a trade program) Technical or vocational training in HVAC or Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) preferred 12 years experience in a similar role, internship, or apprenticeship program Previous exposure to hospitality, healthcare, or large building facilities maintenance advantageous Strong attention to detail, discipline, and eagerness to learn Ability to work collaboratively in a team and follow supervisor instructions South African citizen with a valid ID Key Competencies 🔹 Technical Knowledge Understanding of HVAC, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems 🔹 Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Ability to identify and address system issues under supervision 🔹 Mechanical & Electrical Skills Basic repair, maintenance, and installation of HVAC components 🔹 Safety & Compliance Adherence to PPE, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and health & safety regulations 🔹 Teamwork & Development Collaborative attitude and willingness to learn from senior technicians Duties & Responsibilities Assist with inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs of HVAC systems, including filters, coils, condensers, compressors, motors, thermostats, and ductwork Replace and clean air filters, grills, and vents in guest rooms and public areas Monitor and report unusual noises, performance issues, or potential system failures Support senior technicians in fault-finding and minor repairs under supervision Participate in scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PPM) activities and complete checklists in OMNI or internal systems Maintain safe, clean, and organised work areas after completing tasks Follow property safety and compliance procedures when handling refrigerants, electrical systems, or working in confined spaces Properly use and care for tools and equipment; report damage or missing items Maintain professionalism and courtesy when working in guest areas Communicate progress, request guidance, and participate in toolbox talks and training sessions Demonstrate eagerness to learn and grow technical trade knowledge Uphold the companys values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion, and Integrity Package on Offer Basic salary (TBA) 50/50 contribution to provident fund Company contribution to medical aid Important Application Notes Only candidates with relevant technical training or experience will be shortlisted Ensure your CV is 100% updated before applying All applicants will attend a virtual introduction interview Recruitment aligns with the companys Employment Equity Plan
