South Africa: Senior HVAC Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior HVAC Technician to join the hotels engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with safety standards Critical Criteria (Requirements) Trade or technical qualification in HVAC, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering Certification in handling refrigerants and HVAC systems advantageous Proven experience in commercial or industrial HVAC systems Minimum 5 years experience in HVAC systems, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role, preferably in hotels or large commercial facilities Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and efficiently under tight deadlines Excellent organisational and time-management skills Leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior technicians Must hold a valid South African ID Key Competencies 🔹 Technical Expertise Skilled in installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems including chillers, air handling units, VRF systems, and ductwork 🔹 Quality & Standards Focus Ensures all systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably 🔹 Health & Safety Compliance Adheres to occupational health and safety guidelines; handles refrigerants, chemicals, and electrical components safely 🔹 Problem Solving & Diagnostics Quickly identifies faults and implements effective solutions 🔹 Leadership & Team Collaboration Mentors junior technicians and coordinates with the engineering team to ensure smooth hotel operations Duties & Responsibilities Install, commission, and maintain HVAC systems throughout the hotel Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure continuous operation of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems Diagnose and repair faults in HVAC systems and components Test and monitor system performance and optimize energy usage Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs Follow all health, safety, and PPE requirements Mentor and guide junior HVAC technicians and workshop staff Collaborate with the engineering and maintenance team to respond promptly to emergency breakdowns Live and promote the hotels values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion, and Integrity Package on Offer Basic salary (TBA) 50/50 contribution to Pension Company contribution to medical aid Important Application Notes Must hold a valid South African ID Only candidates with relevant HVAC experience will be shortlisted Ensure your CV is 100% updated All applicants will attend a virtual introduction interview Recruitment aligns with the companys Employment Equity Plan About the President Hotel The President Hotel is on a journey to be considered a true luxury destination.
