Sous Chef Luxury Safari Lodge | North West | R12,000 | Live In
A luxury safari lodge in the North West is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. The successful candidate will have strong leadership, organisational, and cooking skills, ensuring high standards across all kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and menu preparation.

Supervise, train, and mentor junior kitchen staff, including Chef de Partie and Commis Chefs.

Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.

Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health, and safety.

Monitor stock levels, manage kitchen supplies, and minimise food waste.

Assist in creating seasonal menu items and special event menus.

Delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth operation during busy periods.

Support the Head Chef with administrative tasks, including ordering, inventory, and staff scheduling.

Maintain discipline, professionalism, and teamwork within the kitchen.
Requirements and Skills:

Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a luxury lodge, hotel, or fine dining environment.

Strong culinary skills and technical knowledge across all areas of the kitchen.

Leadership and mentoring abilities for junior kitchen staff.

Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and stock management.

Ability to work under pressure, independently, and as part of a team.

Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
