About the Role
Pro Tem, a reputable law firm in Cape Town, is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Secretary to join their team. With an established client base, they require a skilled professional with 5 years of experience in IP roles, covering all aspects of trade mark practice including patents, designs, and trade mark filings and renewals both in South Africa and internationally. The ideal candidate will have experience in intellectual property litigation, which is advantageous but not essential. A computer literate individual with excellent communication skills is necessary for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage IP filings, renewals, and maintenance, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to various authorities.
- Provide administrative support to the IP team, including preparing documents, maintaining files, and coordinating with clients and stakeholders.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing correspondence related to trade mark practice, patents, designs, and intellectual property litigation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure excellent service delivery.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in an IP role, preferably in a law firm or similar environment.
- Experience required in all aspects of trade mark practice including patents, designs, and trade mark filings and renewals both in South Africa and internationally.
- Experience in intellectual property litigation would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Must be computer literate.
