About the Role
The Large Hotel in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Barman to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong customer service orientation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar and restaurant patrons
- Interact with customers, take orders and serve drinks and snacks
- Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations
- Mix and prepare ingredients for cocktails
- Plan and present bar menu
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations & ensure minimum losses
- Maintain standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all bar areas
- Check drinks presentations and temperature to make sure of its quality
- Ensure everything in the bar is set-up and ready for service, including the coffee stations and all machines
- Assist management in taking bar stock
Requirements
- Grade 12
- A formal qualification would be an advantage
- Preferably 3 years previous experience as a Barman
- Sound wine knowledge
- Passionate about the hospitality industry
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, written and verbal (in person and telephonic)
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent people skills
- Ability to maintain a professional working relationship with all departments
