The Role: Sales & Business Development Specialist This role exists to drive new business acquisition and portfolio growth across transport, logistics, goods-in-transit, and related commercial insurance sectors. You will focus on identifying opportunities, engaging decision-makers, and structuring risk-appropriate solutions in collaboration with underwriting teams. The role combines strategic hunting with relationship-led advisory support to clients operating in complex, high-risk environments. Key Responsibilities Bring 35 years of commercial short-term insurance sales experience into an environment focused on transport, logistics, and goods-in-transit. Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities across fleet, warehousing, freight, courier, and broader logistics organisations. Deliver tailored presentations and proposals aligned to detailed client risk profiles. Generate and qualify leads through direct outreach, networking, and referrals. Collaborate with underwriting and advisory teams to structure customised insurance solutions. Maintain strong client relationships to support retention, cross-selling, and portfolio expansion. Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets set by management. Provide insights on industry shifts, emerging risks, and regulatory developments. About You 35 years of experience in commercial short-term insurance sales. FAIS compliant with RE5 and an NQF Level 4 in Short-Term Insurance. Proven specialisation in transport, logistics, or goods-in-transit insurance. Marine insurance experience is advantageous. Strong understanding of underwriting, risk assessment, and claims processes. The existing network within transport and logistics is advantageous. Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex risk exposure. Entrepreneurial, disciplined, and target-driven with a strong hunter mentality. Confident using CRM systems and digital tools for lead management and reporting.
