About the Role
Top Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is seeking a skilled Bottomer Machine Operator to join our team in South Africa. As a key member of our production floor, you will be responsible for setting up and operating bottomer machines to form, fold, glue, and finish the bottoms of paper bags or sacks. Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate bottomer machines used to form, fold, glue, and finish the bottoms of paper bags or sacks.
- Adjust machine settings such as glue application, folding guides, speed, tension, and print alignment according to job specifications.
- Load paper reels, printed tubes, and consumables correctly to avoid misfeeds and waste.
- Inspect bags during production for correct dimensions, glue strength, bottom formation, print alignment, and overall product quality.
- Conduct routine quality checks per company standards (ISO / FSSC / SANS where applicable).
- Reject or correct defective products and report recurring issues to supervisors or maintenance.
- Monitor machine performance continuously to ensure smooth operation and consistent product output.
- Identify machine jams, paper tears, glue issues, or mechanical faults and take corrective action promptly.
- Maintain optimal running speeds without compromising quality.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- 5+ years experience as a Bottomer Operator within the packaging industry
