About the Role
The Ekurhuleni: Health & Safety Officer – SAMTRAC/SACPCMP – Mining / Construction – 6 Month FTC – East Rand is a critical role that requires a seasoned professional to promote and maintain a positive health and safety culture across the organisation. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental legislation, standards, and internal policies, while supporting management, employees, contractors, and sub-contractors in the effective implementation of safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Develop, implement, and review safe operating procedures addressing identified hazards.
- Perform routine and ad hoc site inspections to verify compliance with legislative, contractual, and internal requirements.
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventative actions to address unsafe conditions and practices.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HSE strategies, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- South African Matric Post-matric qualification in Health & Safety
- SAMTRAC certification
- SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health & Safety Officer
- 25 years experience in Health, Safety and Environmental Management within mining or construction environments
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Experience implementing ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
Qualifications
- Post-matric qualification in Health & Safety
- SAMTRAC certification
- SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health & Safety Officer
