Job Description
About the Role
Helderberg Personnel is seeking an experienced Parts Buyer to join our team in Somerset West. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the necessary parts for vehicle repairs and maintenance, ensuring the smooth operation of a panel shop.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify parts needs by reviewing repair orders and job cards
- Analyze work orders to understand specific parts required for each job
- Assess vehicle damage and evaluate vehicles to determine the extent of damage and parts needed for repair
- Forecast parts requirements based on repair schedules and historical data
- Predict future parts needs using Excel analysis
- Source and purchase parts from qualified suppliers, negotiating prices and delivery terms
- Manage inventory by maintaining accurate records of parts received, issued, and on hand
- Track orders to ensure timely delivery
- Handle returns of defective or incorrect parts to suppliers
- Negotiate discounts with suppliers and analyze costs to identify areas for cost reduction
- Build relationships with suppliers, evaluating their quality, reliability, and responsiveness
- Maintain positive communication with other departments, including the workshop, service advisors, and relevant stakeholders
Requirements
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- Knowledge/Experience of working with automotive parts
- Working experience within the automotive body repair (Panelbeater) industry would be a distinct advantage
- Basic to Intermediate knowledge of Excel
- Strong communication skills
