About the Role
Are you a detail-oriented and results-driven Quality Manager with a passion for excellence in steel fabrication? A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced professional to join their team in Kempton Park, Gauteng. As the Quality Manager, you will oversee and implement quality management systems, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and lead a team of inspectors and quality professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001 certified HSQ systems
- Lead internal, external, supplier, and subcontractor audits
- Manage welding quality, calibration, and compliance to AWS D1.1, ASME IX, and EN ISO standards
- Develop and review project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and documentation
- Conduct regular quality inspections, risk assessments, and tender reviews
- Ensure NCRs, TQs, and data packs are processed and submitted timeously
- Drive quality system integration into STRUMIS
- Lead weekly coaching sessions and team development efforts
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Boilermaker Trade Test or Degree/Diploma in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Quality Manager in steel or metal fabrication
- Qualified in: Level 2 Welding Inspector (SAIW), Galvanizing Inspection Level 2, RT Interpretation (SAIW), ASME/NBIC Codes, Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/ISO 45001)
- Strong understanding of EN/ISO 3834
- 6 years artisan experience plus 5 years as a QC inspector
- Experience in coaching and developing quality teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and STRUMIS
Qualifications
- Boilermaker Trade Test or Degree/Diploma in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering
- Level 2 Welding Inspector (SAIW) certification
- Galvanizing Inspection Level 2 certification
- RT Interpretation (SAIW) certification
- ASME/NBIC Codes qualification
