About the Role
The Paarl Technical Assistant will play a crucial role in managing internal technical and due diligence systems, ensuring compliance with IFS Quality Management Systems, and liaising with customers to meet their food safety, product quality, labeling, MRL, ethical, sustainability requirements for Citrus, Grapes, Exotics, and Vegetables. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage internal technical and due diligence systems as defined by IFS Quality Management Systems
- Create and maintain a database for technical standards and applicable legislation
- Liaise with customers regarding their food safety, product quality, labeling, MRL, ethical, sustainability requirements
- Implement customer requirements per fruit team and communicate back to supply base
- Liaise with DAFF, PPECB, FruitSA, auditing bodies, and key role players to stay up-to-date with quality, food safety, ethical legislation, and industry/market requirements
- Represent the company at industry technical meetings (Citrus, Grapes, Exotics, and Vegetables)
- Growers and packhouses support
- Set supplier approval criteria as per customer and market requirements
- Communicate to commercial teams and supply base (Citrus, Grapes, Exotics, and Vegetables)
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a technical or compliance role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., food science, quality control, or a related discipline)
