Job Description
The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the setup, configuration, support, and maintenance of a hybrid IT infrastructure environment, encompassing on-premises and cloud-based servers, storage, and network systems. The role ensures optimal performance, security, and availability of IT services while supporting continuous improvement through upgrades, patching, and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers on-premises and in Microsoft Azure.
- Manage HP Synergy blade servers and associated storage technologies.
- Administer Hyper-V clusters and failover configurations for MS SQL Server.
- Perform patching, firmware updates, and server upgrades.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues to ensure high availability.
- Configure and maintain HP/Aruba network switches and LAN/WAN/VPN connectivity.
- Support network segmentation and perimeter security.
- Manage Azure Virtual Networks (VNets) and Network Security Groups (NSGs).
- Troubleshoot and optimize hybrid network routing and connectivity.
- Integrate on-prem infrastructure with cloud via VPN and ExpressRoute.
- Administer IP telephony and VoIP systems; integrate with Microsoft Teams.
- Provide hardware/software support and maintain telephony documentation.
- Support Azure services, including Azure AD, DNS, Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, and Remote Desktop Services.
- Assist in cloud migration and optimization initiatives.
- Implement and manage VEEAM backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Conduct regular backup validation and lead disaster recovery testing.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for infrastructure incidents.
- Participate in standby and after-hours support.
- Document root cause analyses and contribute to continuous service improvement.
- Maintain SOPs, topology diagrams, and configuration logs.
- Report system health, capacity, and risk posture to management.
- Work with IT Infrastructure Manager and engineers to align with IT strategy.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Information Technology or related fields
- Minimum 5 years experience in IT infrastructure engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux server administration, virtualization, and networking.
- Experience with HP Servers, Switches, Hyper-V, Microsoft SQL Server, and Azure technologies.
- Familiarity with ITSM practices (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
- Proficiency in technical documentation and system architecture.
- Networking fundamentals and Administration.
- Documentation/Technical Authoring
- Knowledge of Systems Architecture.
- ITIL certification advantageous.
- HP Networking Certifications
- Network Professional (ACNP)) will be advantageous.
- Microsoft Certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305) will be advantageous.
- Linux Certifications (e.g., LPIC-1, RHCSA) will be advantageous.
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP (as complementary networking knowledge) will be advantageous
